From early Wednesday morning, heavy snowfall is expected to begin across the country and could continue until Thursday evening, forecasters say.
“If possible, postpone all non-essential travel from Tuesday evening to Thursday evening,” the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service posted on Facebook on Tuesday. “Avoid tall and old trees, and do not park cars beneath them – their branches may not withstand the weight of the snow and could break.”
The forecasters have warned that a snow and ice mixture will cover cables and trees, which may force them to topple. This mixture forms during intense sleet when air temperatures hover around 0 degrees Celsius.
Heavy snow clouds are expected to move on later and pass through other regions of the country.
